Additional Information:
1- This CFW doesn't have LV1 checks disabled and can't be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles unless you have Dehashed/Reset Syscon Properly
2- Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN or memdump before installing this CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
3- Always use the Recovery Menu while installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks (XMB update works, but Recovery Menu is safer).
4- TrueBlue CFW users must update back to OFW3.55 before installing this CFW to avoid possible bricks.
If you're running the current version of ps3, can you install this CFW?

No you cannot as Sony patched that method with the 3.56+ updates. You must be on 3.55 and if you downgrade or on a downgraded PS3, you must rehash your syscon in order for it to work.

As above you will need an E3 flasher to downgrade, or buy a PS3 that already has 3.55 installed.

No problem, although if you do plan on looking into this in the future than I would recommend buying a second PS3 with 3.55 as it is much easier and more beneficial in the long run.

its useless buying another ps3 just for this... would just buy the thing to downgrade and do it myself

You could do what my cousin and I used to do. Back when the MW2 modded lobbies 1st came out, we'd charge $25 PSN for a lobby. We would rank up the buyer and 3 of their friends and they can have the infection.
We made about... $300 in a week?
OT: Thanks + Rep for the best console minion evarrrrr.
So this is basically CFW for 3.55 systems. And if I plan on purchasing or downgrading a PS3, I could host lobbies and trophy hacks, etc?

That is correct, but the firmware is 4.21 CFW, but it only works on 3.55 because the Syscon hashes are different to current ofw

So if the hashes were to be the same, we would be able to jailbreak our 4.21?

Not quite, if they were the same it would be easier but there are other factors as well

In 3.56, Sony fixed the metldr exploit (hardware) by wrapping its security around bootldr (hardware).
In 3.60, Sony fixed the ECDSA Algorithm, making the variable which was supposed to be randomly generated work as intended.
The ability to sign files such as PUP, PKG, etc., is lost because of the change of private key (not hardcoded) and the fix of ECSDA prevents people from getting the key again.
Therefore, CFW installation on firmwares 3.60+ is literally not possible. If ECSDA is cracked, global security will be compromised as numerous other databases, websites, etc. are using ECSDA.
