Xeon Upgrade

So I was wondering about upgrading my PC to a xeon processor. I could do the upgrade to a quad core running at 3.3 GHz for about £250 - €300 - $400. Do you guys think it's worth it?

What cpu do you have right now? Do you game or render, is this for a server?

I have a bulldozer hex core, and yes I game, render, compile and mixdown and not in the short term but probably in the long run,

You need a server motherboard, server ram, server power supply, you still wanna buy xeons now?

could you tell me a bit more as you seam to know about xeons? are they only for use in servers? Can they be used in normal desktops?

No they aren't only used for servers, they could be used as workstations but I'd suggest you to use socket 2011 instead.
Xeons use different type of components than what most people have.

Yeah, if you're going to run a server, Xeons were somewhat designed for server use, but also able to run for normal desktop use.

IDK if I'd get a XEON for normal PC usage, even rendering/compiling unless you have some strange requirements for dual physical cores and an absurd amount of ram.

Well I maybe looking at running servers in the future but I'm hope to start in games development and I want a CPU that isn't gonna be afraid of physics engines. The alternative is that I overclock the shit outta my FX-6100
