You should search around YouTube for some reverse engineering tutorials.
You should also learn the basics of Assembly and get a tool like OllyDBG.

Just buy one of the eBooks, from Agora or some other Darknet site. You'll need Bitcoin if you actually decide to do this though.

It's not essential that you know C++ but it would be very helpful to know C# or C++. Reverse engineering is usually done via software like Ollydbg or IDAPro, these are all programs which show you the assembly code of the game and memory. I don't know much myself but I know you'll definitely need to know ASM to try and be able to understand it. Reverse engineering doesn't have any specific learning paths really, it's all mostly guessing and trying to figure out what variable holds what. You'll be doing a lot of experimenting and messing around to try and achieve what you need.
