I'm a windows 8 user and I say go for it! Best freaking OS that ever came out. It is sooo fast. Boot time takes me about 10 seconds. Its compatible with Crossfire and windows 8 is better for gaming. If you go on youtube and watch comparison videos, windows 8 gives better fps and smoother gameplay

Answering all your questions here:
1. It is completely compatible now. There are no issues with x trap and such. Loads perfectly fine.
2. Ping doesn't change, it stays the same as before. I am experiencing better fps and the game play is much smoother.
3. I haven't gotten crashes at all, its just the same I think. Only thing is sometimes when game finishes, My video driver crashed, this is an occasional thing.
Other wise its fantastic, you will get used to Win 8 and enjoy!

I'm speaking this as a consumer point of view, don't upgrade to Win8 unless you really desire to. The system is really hard to get used to because of the new interface and the lack of a Star Menu like in previous windows. Although the new operating system runs very smoothly, and has a nice touch to it, the hot corners can get really annoying. It even takes 5 steps to shutdown, restart, or put the PC into sleep mode.
