Football, if you played football you know that every time you get tackled it knocks the wind out of you.

Manlier? Full contact sport vs shooting projectiles full of paint... football.

True that, but shouldn't you be close to the same size since you would be playing football too?

No, as a running back you should still be in the same relative ballpark in terms of weight as a linebacker. A solid college level linebacker would weigh in at 240ish while a solid college level runningback would way about 190-200lbs. And a linebacker would usually have about 3 or 4 inches on a runningback, so...
Ummm...? Fuck that, as someone who played football for years at a competitive level, I would gladly take the dog pile over a solo helmet dig any fucking day of the week.
When you get tackled by multiple guys at the same time, usually they're coming from different directions. Blah blah, physics laws come into play making it harder for you to go down since they're all just trying to push you back, allowing you to stay upright and go down at a much slower velocity, making your contact with the turf a whole hell of a lot softer than getting a helmet rammed into your rib cage at 20 ***.
