[Help] Play Sound?

Play Sound?

Hey everyone, I've been looking around for a while and still haven't found one yet.
Is it possible to play a sound using a script? Like make the script play a custom sound. I have some pretty cool and scary effects and I'm looking foward to trolling some people using them

Does anyone know about it? I've seen scripts like this before.

Sigh... once again you cannot play sounds to other people that aren't already in the game, you can't make your own custom sound and play it to them. You can though, use other sounds already found in the game... but otherwise you're fucked.

But if you want local sounds, then you can wait until Rustler v4 comes out and is leaked because I'm not really sure how you would go about doing this. Wuat's menu had some code that might help you with this, if you can find the original look in dwarden.sqf and you should find it.

That will be server side. But there is no way you could play an mp3 that everyone would hear.

I'm going to look out for the dwarden.sqf and take a look at it.

Yes you can, its not a script or a hack though. I have seen and heard users do it too, playing full mp3 or whatever they want. They play a sound file, not music, and the guy doing it told me it was using an arma2 option in the game and just putting in the sound files. I know what you mean bro, just dont have the full answer, but it IS possible.

Any custom videos/music or media in general that you play will be local to you only. So you have a choice of playing it over the mic or playing content that is already in the game. Such as the "team sword status report" gps video. Or you can play any sounds files located in the cfgSounds files. As I said before broadcasting an MP3 to everyone in the server is not possible.

I was playing on my regular server and we had a guy playing 20 to 30 second clips of music. His name did not show up on the screen like it does when you activate your mic, it did show up when he spoke though. We asked him how he was doing it and he told us it is an exploit of the arma 2 game where you can play sound files. If what you say is true, how would you suggest he accomplished that?

Play through SideChat. (Or direct. Whatever situation you're using it for.)

I was going to say no shit sherlock, but I'm pretty sure you already knew that...

And if not then that's a pretty shitty idea, I mean the only reason we want scripts to do it is so that the admins don't know we're doing it/making the sounds... (atleast when over global or side)
