Stray Cat
Hey guys,
So, my hose is pretty much the cat house. We have cats coming in and out a lot, coming for food, etc. Though, our actual pets are 2 black cats that are brothers that were given to us by a neighbor when they were 3 months old. So, for the past few weeks we've heard this whining meow outside our house, and my mom's tried to get the cat in and finally today she got him (yes, we found out it's also a male).
The cat is very hurt, and most likely in pain. It smells like piss (obviously a indicator it's a stray) and has fight wounds all over his face and body. Loose fur, cuts, scratches, and part of his ear is kinda chopped up. Dry blood is all over his right ear -- it's really sad. When we took him in (which was about 1-2 hours ago) he started chowing on our food and what not, and our cat, Carlos (one of the black cats) was getting very jealous I assume.
After I had attended to this stray orange cat, I went to try and pet my black one and it just growled at me and started swatting/biting me. For the past hour Carlos has been hiding near our shoe rack and tried to attack the orange cat twice. He's constantly growling and I'll be honest; I've never heard a more evil growl than what he's doing now. It was honestly scary.
We're planning to take the cat into the vet tomorrow, try to spend less than 200 dollars. Though, we're trying to prioritize his worst wound; on his back paw on one of his padded toes he has a REALLY puffy swollen toe and it looks like two of his toes are combined. It's black, and we think it's infected. I just feel bad for the cat, and I'd really love to take this cat in and have him as our own.. He doesn't really have a house, but Carlos is very jealous and I don't want Carlos to get to the point where he leaves or doesn't come back due to this new stray cat.
We know why Carlos is acting like this. It's because we're in his territory, and he's also a bit jealous of the new cat. Any of you have experiences like these? I just wanna know if it's possible that Carlos could come to a better feeling and possibly be chill with this new cat or something.
tl;dr
stray cat has been coming around house and we finally got him in. He's beat up, has an infected/swollen foot, and we plan to take him into the vet. Our other cat Carlos is getting very jealous, tried to attack the cat twice, and I've never seen him as angry before. Is it possible that Carlos will ever become settle with the new cat, or at least not try to beat him up?
***I'll update the thread with pictures of the cat and his wounds in a bit.
