Scanning for updates

Well, I can't really update anything and/or play gmod until this is resolved, and I have tried the most common fixes for it.
I've restarted about 10 times or more now, and I've also renamed and tried deleting the clientregistry.blob file.

Still no go, first it showed the game as installed but gave me a scanning for steam game updates.
Now it says the same thing except it says the game isn't even installed.

So, any help would be appreciated.

I had this earlier today, i fixed it by logging into 1 of my other accounts and then switched back to my account with gmod. Hope this helps

Thanks for the response, I'd try it but now it seems I can't even access the steam servers, I get connection errors when I try to start it up again.

Nah, I can access it via the browser, and I'm still fine.

What i recommend you do is go into your steamapps and take out garrysmod, click install, cancel it, and then put garrysmod back in merging it with the new one but not replacing anything. (past experience)

If I can get into steam at all that is.

This is a steam bug I think, it also gave me connection errors multiple times, try start steam in offline mode and then go online.

If your having problems with steam servers like i had once when u stay offline mode and cant get on...ask me i know the answer.

Are you talking about when Steam shut down the servers for maintenance?

Can't start steam if it doesn't start at all.

I was unaware that they did this.
It seemed up when I checked.

It seems to have been resolved.

- So now I ask this, is there really any point for me to update it to 164?

Nah, it was merely a question to if it had any point in updating it as Gnomes work just fine.
But I guess it's a matter of choice, I'll update later - I'm assembling shelves right now and drinking grape soda.

Got bored, decided to update it anyway.
It'll be up tonight.
