I ain't really sure if this right section but i'll go ahead.
I just bought myself a 7970 of my a good friend to me (he had it running in crossfire and didn't need the second card)
And when i bought i instantly mounted it in my computer(cuase i got so hyped haha )
Went to try battlefield 3 at Ultra 1920x1080 but after 10 minutes my computer just instantly shuts down :S
have tried it with low settings and still i get a crash..
Tried other good graphic games like Need for speed:Most Wanted and same thing.. 10 minutes of playing and it shuts down..
the card gets around to 73-76 degrees when it shuts down.
can it be my Power supply becuase it's 500 watt?
on the most sites i look it says Recomended power supply is 500-550 watt.
should i buy a new power supply like 700 watt? or could it be some other problem?
pc specs:
Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) 1600MHz XMS3
AMD Phenom II X4 965 3,4GHz Black Edition
a Asus M4A77T motherboard (not the usb3 version)
AtI Radeon 7970 3GB VRAM (this is the new card i bought, earlier i had an GeForce gtx 460 1GB)
AXP 500 watt Power Supply.
It's not the total wattage your PSU could provide.
You must look at the AMPs on the 12v rail.
I'd suggest you buy Corsair HX650 or something.
thnx guys for the help
so the problem should be my power supply?

or like stated above your drivers...
Try all options before spending money to fix it, although I think it's a problem with your PSU, Personally, I've never had my drivers turn my computer off, only for them to crash and turn the screen black for a minute.

well i've updated my drivers just recently from AMD's homepage so it shouldn't be that.
