vb.net vs. vb6

Just wondering why a developer would choose to use vb6 instead of the latest .net version.

If you still use vb6, please list the most important reasons why you stayed with it.
What are the advantages of using vb6?
What are the disadvantages of using vb.net?

Vb6 isn't updated since 199x so I don't even know why people are still coding in vb6... plus both are dependent of something (vb6 : COM lib |VB.NET : .NET Framework)

The ppl who are coding in vb6 are outdated just like vb6

Kind of what I thought, but I figured I'd ask and maybe someone would have legitimate reasons.
Generally I assume it's the only language they know, but I'm trying to be open-minded about it.

Who does? Pffffft they not only live under a rock, they ARE one.

They will be too old for MPGH..

Some people are more use to it; it'll generally be the older people who programs though

The only reason anyone would use vb6 to develop new applications is because:

a) It's the only programming language they know, and they are too lazy to learn any other languages
b) They're working in an environment where they are required to develop in VB6 (no idea why they would, but hey my workplace still has 90% of its applications written in ColdFusion).
c) They're programming hipsters - people who insist on using archaic languages which have no real-word excuse for being used other than to say "I'm using XXXX, therefore I'm awesome and a superior human". It's like using FORTRAN or BASIC today; there are very few justifiable real-world situations where you'd actually NEED to use either one of those languages, but some people use them just to say that they can.

VB6 is pretty much dead to rights. Microsoft is already weaning off support for it. The Vb6 runtime files are still supported, but even extended support for the VB6.0 IDE was removed back in April 2008. Support Statement for Visual Basic 6.0 on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
