I received a $400 fine for trying to beat an amber (Orange) light and exceeded 15km/h over the speed limit and the Speed Trap for Red Light cameras snapped me!

Yeah I know about the law and have already put in appeal for it to be seen as an official warning. Just waiting on the result, but I don't think they'll let me off

You can make an appeal and receive a formal warning instead, although I think 15km/h is outside the "second chance" range:
https://www.police.vic.gov.au/conten...ument_id=10369

Each application for an official warning is reviewed on a case-by-case basis with factors such as the circumstances, time of offence, weather conditions, traffic density and type of road/land abutting taken into account. For example, if you recently received a speeding fine but have had a good driving record in the past.
Not many people seem to know about this law despite it being around for ages.

I get that bullshit where the cops want to sit at the bottom of a hill and catch you as your momentum speeds you up.
Australia lights....
