Nelson Mandela was a visionary and hero on the level of Gandhi and MLK Jr. He fought against the controlling South African governement that instituted the systematic segregation and total oppression of Blacks. If you can't get it peacefully, then force will be needed. The only reason he did time in prison is because he was in a direct war with the South African governement, and his ideologies contradicted theirs. There's no 'bandwagon jumping' at all, Nelson Mandela was a fantastic man, and I've known and looked up to him for a very long time. I suggest YOU actually research the man, the situation, and the the positive lasting impacts he's made on this world.
