Memory editing, where do I start to learn?
Firstly, this is not a thread where i'm going to beg for people to give me their methods and tricks to spawn various items on various mods. By now, and by this time, I know that nobody is going to do that and it'll be stupid for me to even ask due to the fact that people don't want their methods leaked and that's understandable.

So, where and how exactly do people create and manage methods in order to do these things? I remember last year around this time, maybe a bit later where I came here (infact this was the reason why I started MPGH) to get scripts and bypassers for DayZ. It was openly available to the public and I could easily use Cheat Engine and spawn things into the game. Everyone knows the reason why nobody does this anymore is because they get detected extremely fast. Now, it's completely different or so I have noticed. As far as I know, and from what people told me, the most used method is memory edits. This is what I want to know how to do, hence the question, where do I start coding such things? In making this thread, I hope to gain at least a little feedback or suggests on how to do this.

I have no clue where to start learning about memory editing or for that matter what code it is. I'm very interested in learning how to do it, because honestly, I really don't want to keep paying for services if i'm somehow able to do it myself. I read somewhere on an old thread that memory hacks were not that hard to do. One of the people that I bought a service off had the command prompt and used that to hack.

With that said, I realise that people don't want idiots to get a hold of their methods and ruin it for them. I realise that only certain people should be able to do these types of things, and that's all well and good, but for people like me who just want to know for personal use, it's difficult to find out how to get started when you have no background knowledge on this type of thing. Any tips regarding ways to get started or where to get started would be extremely helpful to me and I would be very appreciative to anyone who can give me advice on it.

I must stress that I am not begging because I know there will be people who think that, i'm simply asking for help getting started on how to spawn in DayZ. Do not give me sarcastic or stupid replies, you're wasting your own time and mine, I only want people who are willing to at least show me how to get started or give me tips on how exactly to memory hack.
i would look around at other peoples source codes to help get a general idea
First step would be to learn some simple programming - if you do not know how to program then you are going to have one hell of a time. I chose C# because c++ looked beyond my realm of understanding for what I wanted to do and I already knew Java which is basically identical to C# as far as writing code.

The amount of coding knowledge you need, at least for writing an RPM/WPM hack is not too extensive. If you can write a few of the classic coding 101 programs (ATM machine for example) you probably have all you need to know.

Okay, I don't know where to get the source code due to the fact that nobody releases their methods. Nor would I know how to implement the code into the game.

Are the methods mainly C#? I don't want to learn code that i'll most likely never use again. The main thing I want to end up knowing how to do is spawn various items in game, and that's about it. I don't care for anything extra like godmode or nukes, just basic item spawning.

i would recommend c# as im learning c++ as my first langugage and i can tell you its very difficult. start with something more simple, and you can make something in c++ and make the same thing in c# just with different code, each language is going to be different but its worth learning

Do not look for other people's source code and do not start with game hacks. Creating a cheat for a game through any programming language is not something someone starting off should do. I started a long time ago with LUA (Don't start where i did), but by far the best places to start is C# and JAVA. There syntax alone will help you throughout all programming languages. Now if you want to learn how to do basics in C#, create simple applications that you could use, for example start with a program that makes your sentence backwards like
Code:
This is forwards
sdrawkcab si sihT
Simple things eventually lead to complex things.

i thought he knew how to code a little. theres a guy called antiRTFM on youtube that i would recommend, its who i started learning c++ from and so far hes the only guy that i found myself learning with. theres many videos on youtube and books for absolute beginners that you should look up
And its also learning to code to know how to DO SOMETHING with the data. For instance, my first iteration of an RPM radar just displayed on the console an entity's name, location and distance. Not very useful. Now you have to logic your way through and do something with all that data you collected. In todays day and age, efficiency matters less and less but still you need to figure out how to properly use the information

I kind of chronicled the development of my own RPM radar here http://www.mpgh.net/forum/showthread.php?t=789854

Again, learning how to code your own private hack (and thus not be detectable*) takes sometime and programming knowledge. I have very little and was able to make what I think is a pretty useful radar. However, it did require some.

loloololl im coding one thats WAYYY more complicated and detailed then it should be XD

Cool story bro? If you can do some basic coding, writing a simple memory hack is pretty straight forward then once you get the data read.

im getting a little bit stuck on reading data i can read some of it tho :/

If you're trying arma 2 then there are multiple ways to do this. If you are writing an external program (which i will assume so) use RPM and WPM to modify the game.

use something like

Code:
cfgWorld = readAsInt32(BaseAddress);//read the address as an int using RPM
plrObject = readAsInt32(cfgWorld + player_offset); //add the value of the BaseAddress and our new offset and read it
player = readAsInt32(plrObject + 0x4); //look a wild offset appeared!
setAsFloat(player + recoil_offset, 0.0F);//write the value stored at Base]+toPlayer]+Object]+RecoilCoefficient as a float using WPM
create those functions and store all the pointer values as Int(DWORD in c++)

now if you are looking to make a DLL then look around on the forums for ReClass (i read it was posted a little while ago) that program is the biggest help (its detected by BE though so don't go joining servers with it open!)
Thanks to everyone for the helpful tips, i'll be sure to look into some C# tutorials. Really appreciate it.

One last tip, check out Fleep Hacks on YouTube, he'll explain making hacks from A to Z.
