My dad has a Honda CRV 2004. We were planning to go to our favorite barber to get haircuts. As my dad entered the driver's seat and started the engine, I was on the other side of the car. So right when my dad started the car, the engine went fifteen times as loud, and a giant stream of air pushed towards me from under the car. We were like "holy crap," and thought that it was just some engine troubles. So my dad's friends came fifteen minutes later to check it out (one of them is a mechanic), and we looked under the car.
If you car-folks know this part, we saw that the car's silencer was taken out. There was literally a giant cap between the two holes that the silencer was connected to.
So at first we're like, what the fuck? Who would want a silencer? They're inexpensive. Then I thought of the garages around me. I live in the outer-boroughs of NYC, and there are a ton of run-down garages around us. One of them could have hired robbers to steal our car's silencer.
Do you happen to be British?
The Brits are the only ones I know to call a muffler a silencer.
Stealing mufflers god I haven't done that since I was a kid stolen car parts are a huge market I see people coming around to the garage I work at selling parts out of a 16 wheeler

Okay everyone I'm having a problem.
So it turns out that my dad's Honda CRV 2004 is a California model, meaning that certain parts are different so that they can't violate California's air pollution laws. Now it turns out that the part stolen can only be replaced with a California model.
Here's the fucked up part: There's relatively very little of these parts to be found. The Honda Center is charging $2,000 for a new one. Now I'm even more suspicious that it was the local garage dealers. Those garage dealers are run down, obviously have little money. Maybe a Californian Honda came there way, and for some reason they need a Californian muffler/silencer. This shit seems to be rare. To be honest my parents won't be able to afford $2,000, and my dad is legitimately getting stressed out.
This could really put my family in financial troubles so I need some help. Can you guys help me find a California Honda 2004 CRV compatible muffler/silencer? I need one for a not-too high price.
I fucking hate these garages now. Let's make MPGH Meetup 2k14 in Times Square during Thanksgiving Break so I can take you all to Queens and we can fuck up those garages.
