❗ [IDEA] New Rotmg Pserver Client Architecture etc...
I have been thinking recently about the way the current rotmg client is made and performance issues about Flash Player etc, so i got an idea of making a rotmg pserver client using Unity, i'm very good at C# and unity, and would love if you guys want to work with me, tho if we get it working, we may make it as a way to play on our upcoming pserver (White Realms), so anyone with me?

I would greatly appreciate your help and even suggestions!
Thanks,
- LvlAndFarm
I would help. Only on the parts that aren't server specific though.
And only if you provide proof that you're capable of getting things going. And only if the source will be made public.(Only the version that isn't specific to your server)

Ofcourse, the main things we should think of right now are how the client and physics works, and, yes, i will make the server things related to it and the client itself public

Well in unity you need to take in mind Physics, even 2D have it's own rules (70% of them similar to 3D rules)

I know how to do the graphics in OpenGL, spritesheets, textures, fonts.
i can convert the code from euphoria http://pastebin.com/ywhtqwW2, port it over to c sharp.
OpenGl with C#?
XML with C#

I think Unity would be the best bet because it runs on every platform and I don't see a point in making a new engine when we have one in our reach.
C# is finicky on any platform but windows.

Well you're right Unity runs on every platform + we can tweak it to have the ability to instantly export it to Android and App store = Good thing, and btw Unity takes all care off the C# things + you can code scripts in unity on else C#, Javascript or Boo

And i want to see if we make it succesfull and make it reach Post-100FPS on R295X/GTX980 :'( a man can always dream

Yeah I've used unity a lot. By the way, if we can barely reach 100fps whilst running on the top skews of the the most recent cards then there's a large problem. This ins't going to be an intense game, even if we do decide to make it look very pretty. I have my expectations set for 30fps at least - on integrated graphics.
I'm going to start a project in unity now and find the best way to set up the map.
Also @Botmaker or @krazyshank send me the spritesheets, and you shouldn't worry as unity can auto-slice them and then treat each sprite (or item etc) as an individual image, easier than the old way
Ground is an array of quad verts, walls are cube verts obv.
Messed around with lighting a lot and otherwise got nothing done lol. Textures are from one of rotmg's sprite sheets.

Hi res:

Anyone got any suggestions on how to make the lighting better?
ummm, u can add a light source with a high range and low luminosity

Umm i mean Area Light, u can experiment with different types of light
