Ooo, a new start menu... Just like what windows 8 was to windows 7. Seriously, it look friggin meh and stupid as shit. The only thing I am interested in is it's performance. 8's performance and security was way better than windows 7 and the start menu that everyone was hung up on was basically cosmetic and a no-issue. If 10 outperforms 8 like microsoft says it will (so much so that they had to skip a version 9) then I could care less how it "looks"

It might seem like the security is better, but windows is still vulnerable as ever.
Windows 10 is essentially just a remake of windows7, with some Windows8 features thrown in. Don't expect too much of it.
damn. that's so nice. how much it is?

Pretty much what he just said. Personally, if Vista was more supportive, I'd continue using it. I love Vista, its just so customizable.

Are you even aware of the reason to why it wasn't named 9?

I'm not sure if anyone is. Only rumors of why they actually did it exist. I'm sure if you google it you can find some of the "reasons".
Here's a video where Microsoft give's one reason, whether or not its true idk.

That wasn't a reason, that was hogwash.
It's technical, due to the naming in the source code of Windows 95 and/or 98 they couldn't do it and keep them compatible, or the latter.
I can't remember what my friend that has a masters in computer science said, it was something along the line that in the code it was named 9*.
* being a wildcard, could be any number. So naming it 9 would simply put, cause compatibility issues.
Hence 10.

Yeah that was one of theories that I read as well. But it wasn't from my friend it was from a supposed Microsoft dev on Reddit. Anyway, my original point is that you shouldn't get windows 10 because it looks "awesome", in reality its looks like a marriage of 7 and 8. In fact it is intentionally supposed to look the same so that it is easier for the end users to transition from 7/8 to 10. Think about it. Who are windows 10's target audience? Windows 7 and 8 users. So many people stuck with or moved back to windows 7 because they couldn't understand the frikkin menu (its just a menu!) of windows 8. Windows 10 is supposed to make all windows 7 and 8 users go to the same platform.
Anyway, you should get windows 10 for its increased productivity and performance, not its arbitrary looks. Some of my favorite highlights shown in the video posted above are the increased customization of the start menu (@14:40) and the multiple desktops (@22:10).
P.s I really could care less what it was called but I think that they called it windows 10 for a myriad of reasons. One reason I believe is to dissociate windows 10 from windows 8. A lot of people think 8 was an utter failure (and since it has bad stigma I guess it was a fail) just like vista. So windows wants to move as far away from that as possible while subtly letting users know that they are not too afraid of numbers. Just my thoughts tho.
