Question How to convince my parents to let me play for our Basketball team?

I've been picked by the City to play on Nationals which will be on a week and a half from now. Recently, I had an ankle injury and I even had to stay out of the game for a month on our city's event; Summerlympics -- thing is, I'll be completely healed soon (from what the Doctor said) and able to play once more.

So now the problem is, I told my parents about this but they told me that I should also just skip Nationals for now. I was devasted obviously.. I tried to do some foot stances/practice and I seriously can't feel a thing anymore. I get it they're worried for me, but I'm doing well already and I think it's a waste of opportunity to not join the Nationals since I could go much easier into prestigious Colleges here in my country for it.

I tried reasoning earlier but still the same ol' response of "NO, you'll end up hurting yourself"
I mean come on, it's only normal to get injuries while playing a sport and you will never reach anything if you won't risk shit, right? :/

Worse case scenario: You annihilate your ankle and as a result can't use your leg the same way ever again so you can't play anymore (or at least have to play really different).

What I feel is the likely scenario: You play, your ankle acts like a bitch the whole time. It twists a bit but nothing happens. You get better chances for your prestigious college.

Best case scenario: You get your dreams to come true

Weigh with your parents the likelihood of either event happening (and anything in between too) as well as what you would do in either scenario. Your answers should give you an idea off what your final decision should be.

Depends on your injury. A small sprain, you can recover quickly. If it's something more serious, you can seriously hurt it even more if you put to much pressure on it.

I think it's up to your doctor. Have him or her talk to your parents.

Try putting some stress on your ankle for awhile e.g go jogging for awhile, practice on the court.
If you feel any kind of pain, don't play, sure it's an important match, but it's not worth ruining your potential future in basketball, if you feel no pain, play ball son.
Or just ask your doctor for his/her opinion.

I fucked up my hammies from running while injured and i'm slow as fuck compared to before and no longer partake in sports because of it.

maybe you'd be better off resting if not, as mentioned above, try putting some stress to see if you can handle it.

Advice from doctor or posterize your parents. Either one.

Take your docs word for it. If it's not that serious of an injury and healing is simple, then your parents should understand. Especially considering this is your chance to get into good schools, your parents shouldn't really take that opportunity away from you.

If you are sure that you won't be able to convince them , just do it and bear the consequences better than regretting in the future
but a piece of advice for you , if u can't feel anything but ur doctor says u r still injured then u r still injured , 3 yrs ago I had a serious injury "Blood clot in hamstring" after 2 weeks I felt good and almost no pain at all then participated in a local competition I used to go every year , unfortunately in the second match min 40 I did a fastest sprint in my life I felt like that I have been shot with an arrow in my muscle and lost conscious bec of the pain ! my injury just got worse from a 3 ~ 7 weeks injury to 4 months injury ! So make ur decision wisely :V
