I know this isnt a hack of any kind but I had found it really fun to play with

just google wincustomize it should be the first one

it customize's windows xp/vista/7 you can change the layout of your start screen and start tab and it goes even as far as login screen picture

but they have different layouts and if you get good at it you can make your own
