Should I upgrade?

Hello,

Recently it has came to my attention that thought my GPU may not be the most efficient for the job anymore, so I was looking into GTX 1080 with i7-3770k and 16GB - 2133 hz

and my build currently is:
i7-3770k 3.4Ghz (unknown to how high it is on clocked, as I never have clocked my CPU)
Nvidia Geforce 970 - 4GB - Gaming white
Hyperx Fury series 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1866MHz
250GB SSD - 1TB HDD (might be buying extra)

and my BF1 runs below/around 60-80 FPS on medium/high while recording with the Nvidia Geforce recording software (it runs same even when not recording), Rise of the Tomb Raide runs around 20-45 FPS

I am going off by this video right now:

So, the question is, should I upgrade RAM and GPU and leave everything else as it is, or should I just build new one from scratch?

depends on how much money you have lying around

however id say that building a completely new pc from scratch might be better, but a new gpu would be the best if you wanna spend a reasonable amount rn
you can always get a new cpu etc in a while

I have no money laying around, that's the thing, I have uncle who works as computer technician and he can order bunch of things with monthly fee, he gives me things with monthly fee because of my dad knowing him (which is good cuz he doesn't need 6 month banking info about earrings).

so, I am most likely gonna upgrade to 1080 which then I can later use for better PC if it comes to that, since if I already have GPU, I only then need power supply, motherboard, case, ram and cpu.

Instead of 1080 go for the newer GPUs like RTX 2070. Should be sufficient for 1080p gaming.
Thus, if you got the extra money. Upgrade a RAM with higher speed, ram speeds actually matter more than you think. I saw a video that a 2000something vs 3600 mhz can result in 10+fps difference.

Well, since my motherboard is an oldie, then it doesn't go any higher than 2200 Mhz. and RTX 2070 would cost more than 1080, hmm, maybe not by much

i'll talk to my uncle.

what games and what resolution are you playing on rn?

DDR3 speeds might seem lower than ddr4 but they have much tighter timings so factoring that in they are very similar in the end

I can't even put my RAM to 1866 as my CPU doesn't even support it, did the research after getting known about why the PC wouldn't turn on after putting it to 1866Mhz even when timings and all were set to its proper measures.

I play all sorts of games, from BF to Minecraft, so on and on, and on 1920x1080 currently, some games on 1600x1080 since my PC drops below 100 FPS.

if possible id recommend you rather get a bigger version which has a bigger cooler
that way the card can run with higher sustained clock speeds so your games will run a bit faster

I have not really done any kind of clocking, I tried to clock my i7-3770k, but it is not sustaining the clock consistently, even now my current gpu is running on stock speeds

you dont need to do any manual overclocking

graphics cards will run as fast as they can alone
that is automatically done and the cards will clock as high as long as they stay under 83C
so you actually get more power when the cards have bigger coolers cause that lets it run cooler and thus higher clocks can be achieved

Ah I see, he probably choose that because it was "cheaper" side of things, since he wants 20% before ordering, so in this case 115 euros, and then 42 euros for the next 12 months.

And, last night, I was doing other things like building a computer (without few parts like GPU, HDD/SSD) and I got about $605 worth of stuff, might have do redo it as I do not remember the names of the things except the CPU which was i7-7700k (which is an old cpu by 2 gens, but it was cheaper, in comparison to i7 9th gen.

i wouldnt at all go for a 7700k, it is cheaper cause it has half of the cores of an i9 9900k
the price to performance ratio is pretty bad with any 7th gen cpus you can now get

also ask him if he has better 2070s in stock with like dual fan designs min

He doesn't have these things in stock, he buys them off from another place, don't know where.

i see

i wouldnt recommend getting that card as the performance wont be that good
and the card will have to run rather loud as it only has that one fan
