It can be a broken motherboard, but if that's the situation, your problems should be worse than only a BSOD.
Old Samsung laptop I had went total rip, couldn't start. Problem: Motherboard was rip.
So I'd suggest removing every "extra" component, like ram for example. You could also buy 8gb ram for testing, and return it if you want.
