i wanted the smallest footprint possible (only a 40 gig windows partition), so i installed the starter version of vista.

vista is fine (not my favorite, but theres nothing 'wrong' with it), but starter version is stupid.

Just get ubuntu and run wine with it and you should be good to goo

why would I pay for it? i use it for 20 minutes a day at most.

Vista is horrible in my opinion. Installed it, then after a week i uninstalled it and got XP. I don't like it at all.
