Skinning CoD4 & Tools

Well , I'm going to explain you 2 ways to make a texture on cod4, and how to install them.

First way:
1. Convert to .dds
2. Edit in photoshop
3. Convert to .iwi
4. Place in iw_04
5. Rename your iw_00 till iw_06 with this
Iw00: localized_english_aa
Iw01: localized_english_aab
Iw02: localized_english_aac
Iw03: localized_english_aad
Iw04: localized_english_aae
Iw05: localized_english_aaf
Iw06: localized_english_aag
Don't rename iw_07+



Second way:
1. Convert to .dds
2. Edit in photoshop
3. Convert to .iwi
4. Hxd the files (Copy the first 2 lines of the original file, put them in your new file. Place 4x 00 bytes in line nr.3 and cut the last 4 bytes.
5. CRC32 fixer (Give the directory of your original files and your new files)
6. Put in your iw_04, no renaming needed (easier for choobs, this is the method I recommend and use, especially for public packages.)


NOTE: ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS.If you failed, just put back your backups and give it another try..


How do you install your textures:

The easiest way to install your textures without having any problems is renaming your iw_00 till iw_06:
Iw00: localized_english_aa
Iw01: localized_english_aab
Iw02: localized_english_aac
Iw03: localized_english_aad
Iw04: localized_english_aae
Iw05: localized_english_aaf
Iw06: localized_english_aag

This is the best way if you don't want any problems. Make sure you renamed well, please double check.

i converted form iwi to dds no problem, when i convert back i dont get results, and also when you mean renamig your iw00 to iw06 what you mean?

when you converted back to .iwi you have to place it in the folder where you picked the originial .iwi

If you don't want the 'files different from the server' error you have to rename.. just copy n paste what I wrote.

i put back your skins cuz the ones i made, or tested, were yours, just the colored area with a marking on them, and then i saved as .dds ***5 and converted to .iwi, as i open cod4 it says unable to load weapon_camo etc. depending on which one i tried to change
