Question on flashed drives for 360s

So I have an old 360 and I want to flash it now the drive that came with it is giving me crap about running disks. Due to its age and the use on it, now I have another drive from a Hitachi (The other was a benQ) If I flash the Hitachi would it work on the other 360? I'm wondering because I know of the problem you get if you try to switch drives. So would I still have to spoof the drive? If any one can Help me with this that would be great.

You would have to spoof the drive, but as of now, Microsoft new dashboard can detect a spoofed drive. Meaning if you have xbox live service, you're pretty done for. Also, if you are updated to the latest dashboard, but don't have live, spoofing will still cause your xbox to deny the play of burned games. The drives now do a series of 'challenges' to ensure the disc is legitimate. I suggest just trying to flash the Hitachi drive and keep it in its original setting, or do the same with your BenQ. Either way, swapping/spoofing is detectable.

Hope that helps. Any further questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I Wont be going on live with it. So I should spoof it and then run the flash on it right. (I'm currently under my pc opening it up)

That depends on your dashboard. If you've updated it in the past 6-7 months, then you'll brick your drive, and you won't be able to play any games.
