I'm starting to get fat. I let me myself go a lot for the past 6-7 months. I'm thinking about starting boxing. Anyone do boxing here? Want to join mostly because I would have a set of self-defense skills in my pocket, plus I'll get some cardio in. So anyone do boxing? Recommend it? or other self-defense sports?
I don't want to get serious and go into comps. Just learn.

boxong as in boxing a company for a rma ? Jokes appart i do kickboxing which is pretty good for cardio and boxing will definitely help you get in shape. As you need to have a good cardio, jogging is recommended, also all the abs exercices plus the push ups will help you loads, ive seen a huge difference after one month pf practice

Boxing is decent, but it's not a great fitness martial art. Try Kickboxing instead.
Ideally Jiujitsu can help you the most, 30 minutes of rolling with people trying to literally kill you or break your arm is an exhausting work out. You'll walk away sore, and it's really great way to lose weight.

I would say boxing is more for fitness but if you want to learn something like that for self defence then i recommend MMA.

I’ve been boxing for 10 years now, dislocated my shoulder.
All I can say is do it! Cardio 100% with boxing. People think 3mins each round is ez, but its hard asf and you will lose weight and become faster.

MMA? lol
90% of the people in MMA use the basic of boxing, jju, wreslting but never know 1 sport for 100% I would take boxing over any sport if you wanna learn how to fight.

Currently doing Taekwondo, I am 18 years old and I'd definitely recommend it.
