My teacher brought up an interesting topic of where we want to be 30years from now.
Then it led to, do we really want to be in the U.S., which might follow the steps of all other great empires and eventually collapse?

So yea, do you think that history will repeat itself and the U.S. will fall to an even greater power?

Every single empire will ALWAYS fall at one point. 30 years is far too soon for the US to collapse though. We are on a pretty shitty track right now though.

Because of the past Fiscal cliff, and the sequester, with the government almost shutting down twice already in the past 2-3years
I'm not really sure how long, but i know that it will.

I think it will take more than 30 years for the US to fall, But one day it will. Everything will.

I think in the future China will be no.1. They're investing heavily in their future, making sure they have students who can complete globally, as well as investing in technologies of the future, green tech, etc.

The U.S. spent the last 80 years after WWII becoming heavily involved in global politics and global engagements. We have a lot of resources tied up because of this, supporting allies and such militarily. The U.S. I believe should attempt to focus on itself a bit more, helping its citizens succeed, because if they don't then they'll be left with a bunch of uneducated, under-specialized people trying to compete with countries who have spent time making sure their citizens can compete globally.

The US is going down hill due to some incredibly ignorant politicians. Hopefully we can cycle out the shitty ones, and elect people who actually know what the fuck they're doing. Don't think it will collapse as of yet, but we're pretty crappy right now.

Indeed. If we look back to the cold war, one of our main advantages over Russia was that of food production and their dependence upon our exports. Russia's northern climate was too inhospitable to produce enough grain, therefore they bought it from the US. We basically had the war won due to absolute need for us. The same frightening occurrence is happening now with the US and China. If a war were to erupt between America and China, we would almost assuredly lose due to our overwhelming dependence of their product.
