There's no safe place to shoot somebody at, it's just as lethal to shoot somebody in the leg than the stomach. The reason why police officers aim for the body is to prevent accidentally shooting civilians.

he was 12 and it all depended on the kids body actions in reality he is not some teenager but a young boy. If a twelve year old came up to you with a gun would you not ask him to put it away nicely or try to reason. Kid took it pointed it at cop and surrounding civilians , cop made a choice between waiting for the kid to fire to see if the gun was real putting not just him but every civilian in the surrounding area in danger because real bullets don't just disappear. Or removing the threat .

I should not really post but YOLO, If you were the cop would you rather be shot? I think the guy could of talked to the kid who had the gun and told him to put it down or something but in reality if you were in that situation you would probably rather shoot the kid instead of getting shot and dieing. There's been cases where 7 year olds and 10 year olds have shot guns due to mishandling them. You never know what could happen. And best bet is, you dont want to be lying dead on the ground and your last thoughts to be "shit if I had shot him I wouldn't have beend ead"
