Boxing / Punching Bag Training Question

Hey guys,

So I decided to add boxing to my workout routine because I have a old punching bag sitting around (its made out of foam and its a standing one, not one you hang). What equipment do I need to start? I already know that you need wraps for your hands but I'm not sure what type of glove to buy. I've looked online already and most of the gloves listed are really big traditional boxing gloves. I'm mainly looking for something light and small, almost like MMA gloves. Apparently people said that you can't use MMA gloves because that would fuck your hand up, and you would need to get some heavy bag gloves but the ones I found are really big...

MMA gloves you're more prone to hurting your hand. Generic sandbags hurt like hell to punch initially, mostly because you're pushing a 50 lb bag of sand with your hand, all the force traveling through it can make your hand sore. It's not fun. Not sure about foam, but I wouldn't recommend MMA gloves regardless.

Just go with boxing gloves, they add protection and padding to cushion the impact and teach you better form and stances. It's a LOT harder to knock someone out in 12 oz gloves or w/e compared to a 4 oz mma glove. Only reason MMA gloves are great is for grappling.

You wont fuck your hand up using MMA gloves at all. That's what I used when I trained with my friend Cory and nor I or him had any problems with our hands. You don't even need gloves, tbh you can just use your bare fist as it will strengthen them over time.

The contact with the punching bag material fucks my skin up so I need gloves

They provide you with a soft cushion when you land a hard blow and you'll never fuck you're hand up unless your a dumbass.
