Eyyy, first season in a long time I'm watching more than three Anime from the most recent season it's quite nice tbh.

Really good to see a better plotted series which is placed in the gaming world that doesn't have a focus on the harem and the girls have actual armor! Also the death knight was pretty bad ass and that heart grip spell as well.

Charlotte

Reminds me ALOT about Angel Beats, I feel like this will also end up on a tear jerker with everyone returning to a normal person(if you can even fit all of it into one season) but it's also the first anime in a while to make me laugh so much with the nice tense moments turned to a comedy act much like done in Angel Beats, good to see that we have characters that aren't using there powers just for bad reasons and are trying to help out others too before being caught by the school government. Also I hope they can tone down the idol girl, she makes me cringe with all this magical spell crap.

I Haven't watched Overlord yet, going to give it a try though, since I got nothing else to do.

Charlotte on the other hand is a current favorite. Really nothing else to compete with it this season though, other than Gangsta, but it's a bit slow it seems and I worry about the pacing towards the end.

Overlord:
Start: Ugh another video game series? Cmon.
Second: So boring..... but you have a little bit of potential.
Third: Alright, just keep this pace or higher and you'll do fine.


Summary: I kind of hate "but in the video game" monologue. It get's real old real fast. As a gamer, I feel that explaining basic mechanics of video games is almost pointless. However, I think Overlord(by episode 3) has managed a meaningful departure from "exposition hell" that is associated with anime who have video game mechanics.

So far the series looks to have potential. Madhouse does a good job animating, there is an open ended goal, and there is some suspense into what will happen in the coming episode.
Edit: Actually, my biggest complaint should be the fact that there isn't a need to have any video game mechanics at all. This entire show could be fantasy. Easily. Even have better characters by that. The constant referencing to "but in my video game" would be avoided, the setting would be more intriguing......

Idk. I'm just not a fan of "alternate reality through a video game". Mostly because as the story progresses you have to keep referencing the video game.

Start: Ok potential then....oh great, here comes the killjoys.
Second: Yep, another "powers in highschool" shitfest. What is this, Xmen without the adventure?
Third: Oh god it's so boring, it's another highschool drama and ugh......kill....me......

Summary:The problem with Charlotte is really the problem with Key. They only produce highschool themed shitfest.
Oh a bunch of highschoolers have a bunch of powers? How is this used?: Staying in school and dealing with highschool drama.
Thanks Key, because we need more of that shit.

No building on the world. No organizations. Just fucking highschool again.
It reminds me more and more of series like Mahouka or Angel beats, where they somehow end up in a highschool and all the focus is on that enviroment and atmosphere.

I expect nothing from Charlotte. It's made by Key who have for over a decade proven that they don't want to pursue the potential of the setting, but would rather just sit in highschool.
