You should use supports like Nautilus, Braum, Thresh, Leona, etc. Supports that are tanky and have plenty of defensive and slow/stun abilities.
Any support really, as long as your comfortable with playing them.

Support doesn't always have to be weak, Shen for example is a 10/10 support, shit ton of damage, taunt, shield.
The game I used him, my ADC went afk because I'm doing better than her.

What ?
I main Shen and if your ADC isn't doing well then you'll do terribly. But I'd your ADC knows how to secure kills and you know how to set em up then take Shen...or just take Thresh, Leona, soraka. All of them are great. But you won't be carrying too hard unless you're doing with a great ADC.

I haven't mentioned names, Leona is not weak, but a champion like Thresh is. He might be a good support, but not a strong one.
What I mean is, with Shen you could help other lanes by ULT'ing, or even defend your ADC with it.
Nidalee, Annie, .. what about those?
