Hello everyone.
So, just now is the third time I've lost some items, from a scammer.
I'm stupid, I know. But this time.. was 'different'..
I was trying to sell some skins in a trade server, when someone messaged me, asking to trade for them.
He offered a BS AWP Asiimov. Seemed legit.
I placed my items into the trade, and so did he.
Seemingly normal, I accepted the trade, and did the email. Everything in the email was legit too.
Upon accepting the email, my items went, and therefore I lost it.
I didn't receive the AWP, at all, even after DC'ing.
To this point, I'm still baffled as to how this happened.
I would love it if someone could explain how this happened // how to do it?
I'd not use it, except on those who used it against me.
I am very anti-scamming, and would like my items back.
I am not bothering with Steam Support, and yes, I know this is my fault.
If anyone knows anything at all, please tell me.
Either message me, or post here.

did you have trade confirmations on? if not, you can't do anything.
Yeah, I already said. I don't want the items, just want to know how.
Check the email you recieved about the trade. Does it show your items in exchange for his? or only yours?
@LoadSounds I already stated, it showed his items.

Thanks.
maybe they are waiting for you to take them in your inbox ?
Check your trade history, also make sure the email was actually from steam (and not a fake email address).
Moved to help.
Just want to point out, that if it looks legit, it's possible to bounce an email off an official server, to make it seem like it came from the originator. It's also possible to completely spoof the from address and info, with the right tools.
Yeah, check account trade history with that user and see if their offered items are in the trade. Im with others in believing that the email you got was a phishing attempt and the link you clicked to "accept" the trade was in fact a script to send your items to them but get something different or nothing in return. Some emails can even appear to come from a valid source too as someone else also mentioned.
As said before, check trade history and screenshot that and post it here.
There was a dupe bug where you could dupe the items in your inventory, but if you would trade the duped items, they dissapear.
