it might be becuz of the hack,the file got patched and if u have it in ur cf folder cf wont work and that might be why ur getting that error

press enter
click display
make sure that these 3 boxes are ticked:
DirectDraw acceleration
Direct3D acceleration
AGP textures acceleration
that should work, if not it is most likely that you need to upgrade your directx and your video card drivers.
