Alright,
(Sorry im using ubuntu so gimp is my only choose. But this is still for photoshop)
1.So let us choose an easy picture like the m16

(Just right click>save as)
2.Open the picture, the layer may be locked so just double click the layer to unlock it or just duplicate the layer and press the eye icon on the locked layer.
3.Use the magic wand tool. (W is the shortcut) and select an white area (For people who do not know the magic wand tool it selects white through out or at least almost from the pic) and press "delete" on your keyboard and should look something like this. Or an easier way, select the colour you want deleted with the magic wand tool and then go to the select menu and click "by colour" and it will select all of the white areas within the whole picture
4.Now delete all of the other white spots within the render.
5.When you are done like this
