Hello guys,
someone linked me this discussion and I registred here to join it. I'm happy to find people who try to find the solution together, most of guys who says they find a solution don't tell anything, I guess some of them are just lier. Since Sandboxie stoped working for me on 14th February (Windows 8.1) I'm googiling and talking with guys who also tries to fix it. I also already tested many things and nothing worked for me till now, but I can share with you some of my experiences.
VM's and what is Zoner doing:
I was able to run CS:GO in a Windows XP VM, I used Oracle VirtualBox for it. Another guy who made the same, wasn't able tu run CS:GO because of graphic issues. I have graphic errors too, but I just can ignore and play the game. You need at least to manage your startoptions in Steam before launching CS:GO, it could help. After you started the game you need to set all grapic settings to the lowest. I also had graphic card problems like "shader 3.0" and so on in a Windows XP VM, it started to work for me as I changed the XP-Version. But even it worked for me, the VM with running CS:GO in it taking me 26% CPU, so it's not an option for me for running 10 accounts. Maybe someone with better computers is able to (I have a i5-4460 Quad-Core with 3,2 GHz and 16 GB RAM). RAM is not taking much for the VM, it's the same like in Sandboxie, but CPU-Ressources are too much. If someone wanna try it, here is what I did:
- Followed the instructions in this tutorial: CANT POST LINKS? SEARCH FOR Idle4Drops-Steam-Group, it's attached there.
- Didn't worked for me, so I used another Windows-Version and it worked, I used: CANT POST LINKS, its "WINXPVOL_EN.ZIP" in the comments of the same tutorial.
- Downloaded and started CS:GO and set following startoptions before launching CS:GO (don't know if they are all needed):
-single_core -silent 730 -sw -w 640 -h 480 -low +fps_max 30 -console -nosound -novid -nojoy -noshader -nofbo -nodcaudio -nomsaa +set vid level 0 +sethdmodels 0 +log off +sethdmodels 0 +noshaderapi +lv -16bpp +setrenderer opengl -threads 1 +cl_disablehtmlmotd 0 +cl_resend 30 +cl_resend_timeout 2000 +cl_timeout 30 +cl_disablehtmlmotd 0
About Zoner:
Zoner is using VM's but not on Windows. He has a Mac OSX where he's running the Program "Parallels" which allows Mac-Users to emulate Windows. I also heard from other guys who are able to boost with Parallels very well. The problem is, that you need an Apple-Computer, just a VM with an Mac OSX shouldn't work for it. 'Cause you will run VM's in a VM and also have trouble with grapic issues (I guess, never tested).
The strange thing is: some days ago I was able to run up to 2 accounts sandboxed and 1 unsandboxed, now I'm not able to run even one account in Sandboxie (I'm using Windows 8.1).
Since the "patch" of Sandboxie-boosting happen on 14th February I heard from some guys that are still able to boost in Sandboxie, but one can explain how. Some say they have bypassed anything, but also some say that they never changed anything and it's still working with newest updates and so on. A guy who is using Windows 8.1 Pro also told me, that he still can boost without any issues. I tried to copy his System, had the same versions of everything but it still didn't worked for me. Later he told me that he added 3 new accounts in sandboxie and this accounts get VAC Kick, while the old accounts are still able to run. So maybe this is the reason (whatever it is) why some people still can boost with Sandboxie (until they add new accounts). I also heard from two guys who are able to use Sandboxie on Windows 7 without any changes.
Sandboxie 3.76 (WORTH A TRY?):
I also heard from one guy who is just using Sandboxie 3.76 and it works for him. I tried it too but I can't run this version on Windows 8 or Windows 7. Tried to get Windows XP in Dual Boot but still couldn't install could, 'cause some shit about UEFI-Boot-Manger or something of my PC don't allow me to install older versions of Windows. Maybe some of you can test a Windows XP in dual boot with Sandboxie 3.76? I will try to do it too.
Killing processes of Sandboxie I tried in many ways, even killed Sandboxie completely. I was able to play the game but still get vac kicked later. Another idea (how hiding Skin changer) I tried too: Installing Sandboxie on USB-flash drive, start it from flash drive and start CS:GO with it, after kill the flash-drive so there is no sandboxie on your computer anymore. Worked for me once with 1 account, as I did it with 5 my whole PC crashed, so I don't know what's the point of it (was it Sandboxie or Steam), will try it again. With this one account it worked for me as it worked for me to run up to 2 accounts in Sandboxie, so it's maybe not working anymore.
At this moment I'm on three things testing: Running Sandboxie 3.76 on Windows XP / Find a program to hide Sandboxie / Try to install it again on USB-flash or other medium that I can kill after launching CS:GO.
I'm sure when we all stick together and help each other with testing and ideas we will be able to fix it. We just need to test many things and to post reports about what we tested and what failed. Btw: It's possible that the whole thing is just a fucking VAC-bug and will be fixed somewhen. Because if you read all the posts in the pasts this problems already happens some years ago and are coming almost every year, someone says while Steam is changing something for the Major drops. So maybe they just didn't fixed it so fast. Boosting is not that much big like someone thinks, Valve don't really care about it and probably won't waste working time to stop it.
