LMAO bought by the FBI.

It's was originally developed by US military, the reason why they wanted to release this to the public is so that they are able to stay anonymous.

If TOR is only used by them, then any website that detects a TOR connection will know that it's the US military spying on people. But if the public were to use it as well, there is no way knowing the person behind the TOR connection.
