I have the same feeling as you about cheating/hacking ruining up online games. We can rage at cheat provider and cheating tool/hack tools loosers for ruining our online game but the real cause behind is society rules. Laws allow it to happend and as long it will not be against the laws and enforced seriously to cheats in online game it will only get worst over time.
South Korea anticipated it all when Starcraft became a huge phenomenom so they created personal identification requirement to connect to gaming online service and someone found guilty to cheat online are not ban by anticheat. It lead cops to their home, arrested, face 6 months jail time followed by 10 years to get your ID blacklisted from all online gaming service. That is for cheating in regular ranked mode online (I mean not in tournaments with money on the line. Because then it goes up to years in jail)
Guess what? They have clean and legit online gaming experience lol.. The main arguments they used to enforce thoses new laws was: it is harmful for the gamers consumers rights and harmful for gaming industry itself. They do not have such problem like here and they have very nice gaming community. As long our laws do not take it seriously we will be swarmed of loosers kids seeking for easy way to dominate others and show off somes inexistant skill.
Imagine our consumers rights to be violated and be unable to get the common sensed experience after purchasing a 70$ game. Only to realise we have nothing to say about the ruined online experience of millions peoples only because somes losers need to be threaten with jail time only to respect the normality word and show up some common sensed decision.
Cheats provider and hacking providers is nuking the online gaming industry but we are too soft and stupid as society to understand looser need laws enforcements to force them to stop exploiting flaws. All online Gaming industry is infested some more then other game. Black ops 7 ranked mode was completely ruined from cheating looser
