In previous versions of the game, you could easily execVM scripts from the arma 3 main directory.
Now you'll have to enable filepatching to be able to do that.
My question is: Is there any other way to execute a sqf file from a clientside location?
Or what would be the proper way to execute a script these days?

Who really knows how to do will probably not share it so easily 
A lot of ways to execute scripts, but you need some basic knowledge. Easiest way for you would be; enable filepatching.
