There's a bunch of reasons, it makes it look better and also increases sales if people think others are waiting to buy it or think it's a good price.

Just giving you a heads up. All it takes is for someone to talk to you and send screenshots to ebay and have your account suspended. You may think, why would anyone do that? Someone will, just to spite you.
