I paid $2.27 for $1 transaction, I literally paid more fees than the actual amount of the transaction.
Bitcoin is on high demand, if you do use another wallet where the fees are shit it's gonna take forever to confirm. They will go down eventually I recommend just sticking with Coinbase for now if you don't want to be waiting a week for your BTC transaction to confirm.

I use electrum. Sometimes you can get away with using a low fee by using the VIABTC transaction accelerator. Make sure to tick "replaceable" in the electrum wallet when sending a transaction with a low fee. Replaceable means you can increase the fee later if the acceleration fails.
