How do I host my private server on vps?

How do I protect my client from cheaters.
Please send any existing tutorials for these if you can, I cant find them.

This is what I did(Windows)
1. You find a VPS provider, that suits your desires.
2. You buy it.
3. You set the VPS up ( Theirs not a "How to set VPS up", it varies, but youtube should do the trick.)
4. You set your Pserver up like normal inside the VPS, but in server and client ip, you put your vps's ip. Don't worry about port-warding, your VPS should already be port-warded, but if not, just youtube it.
5. Your Done.

You might be wondering, How do I put my Pserver inside my VPS? Simple, put your source in a private github and install it in your VPS (Note: This will lead to a Database Wipe(i Think))
