I saw the original V as a kid. The original was a metaphor for the Nazi occupation of Europe. The new series is supposed to be a waring of false hope (i.e. giving too much power to governments, large corporations, and religion). Personally, I kind of wished more was changed in the story lines; I wish the Visitors weren't reptilian. I do like the undertone of the Visitors having their own inner political/religious conflict.

I'm actually enjoying V, some of the sci-fi isn't even attempted to be explained (like the DNA radio frequency transmitter was a big WTF moment for me) but that's generally my only objection to most sci-fi shows. BRING BACK FIREFLY!
