Why?

Because I've tried it.

What Actually Happens?

After you copy paste and replace the files everything goes well.
Until you start steam again.
Steam checks all the files again from scratch.
It detected that the files have been changed and it replaced those files with the original ones.

How do I know this?

I saw it happening right in front of me as I opened the steam root directory.

SO,NO IT DOES NOT WORK.

Instead of doing this and constantly getting fooled by steam, it's better to insert these commands in CMD(Admin).

could someone change this post to outdated? because it does not work, every time you start up steam, steam checks if the files are non-original or missing, so basically it just re-downloads the same files again and replaces them, so there's no point in even using this.

That is why you put the file to read only, maybe if you read the instructions?

Oh, yes...I forgot to say that. :P
You must start Steam with this "command line" to work: -noverifyfiles

Example

Code:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -noverifyfiles

But I dare to say that with this it's sufficient:
- I have blocked steamerrorreporter.exe, steamerrorreporter64.exe and WriteMiniDump.exe in the Windows Firewall (In and Out) and with the Process Blocker
* I go this way from one year or more, I have never had problems...but neither I can say "Yes, this helps greatly"

Let's see how much people fall for this.

The intentions of that is to be used in to CMD Prompt as means to block these things from running,
I don't see the benefit though as it's just a stick in the sand for VAC in my opinion.
