What programming/coding language should I learn first?

Pick up one and only source for C++, go through the book cover to cover. put every line of code into the computer and compile it. don't miss anything. it will get frustrating and overwhelming at first. but have a goal of going a few pages per day. eventually after completing the book. re do the process for the next best book for C++. the concepts will be engraved by this method of learning. remember: it is useless to read a programming book, use it like a lab manual. gotta put code onto the keyboard.

If you're willing to go through hell, start with C++. If you want to learn at a normal speed, learn C#.

Java or python are good languages to start off with

If you're already learning C++, stick with it. It's a strong language and it can take you far.

Before learning a language you need to have a goal in mind. What do you want to do with it? For general purposes I'd recommend Javascript and Python. If you want something more hardcore, Java or C++.

Don't start with Java, for your own sake. I started with it and it was hell to try and learn anything else because Java is so syntax-specific. You're better off sticking with C++

Start with a language you feel that will not shatter your brain on the first go of it. learn what comes easy to you, also don't do like I did and try to learn so many languages at once when it comes to programming Attention deficit disorder can be your worse enemy or your best friend. but simple like I mentioned before learn what comes naturally to you. and just like what the person whom posted before me mentioned, Don't start with java if you value your sanity.
