When does the cheat detection trigger?

IF I am connected to Banjo and I use a cheat that I suspect of being detected will I get banned in the main menu, when I submit a score or when I reach the top? Can I not get banned if I play with a special mode that will make the play unranked thus not submitted?

It seems like, both can be sure result in a hardware ban, Since when you use ReplayBot by AndreySeven it will detect it since i was using it in 2015.
If someone spectates you, and reports you that is a common result of ban and when they see a suspicious replay with legit movements.

And there's 50% of chance you can get banned.
