US Space Force

How many of you have an opinion in regards to the Donald Trumps proposed split within the USAF to create an independent Space Force? This has been a widely opposed and controversial proposal throughout Congress and the Pentagon. It impacts things such as navigation, reconnaissance, weather forecasting, intelligence collection, and communications and will without a doubt cost a fortune to implement.

Its been a huge topic of discussion recently at my place of work, most people just view it as a joke.

I don’t think that his ideas/proposals at this point will gain any traction. Initially, when he became President and the republicans had full control of Congress, I was pretty scared of what would happen. Now that a year has passed and Trump hasn’t really done shit, I feel that it would be safe to assume that this proposal won’t succeed in his administration seeing as how congressional elections are coming up again (with many analysts having data to support a democratic victory for at least one branch) and how the Republicans are too busy arguing with one another to actually pass any successful laws.

Sure let him do it, last 8 years just had Obama doing what he wanted anyways

I think it'll end up in proposal hell where there's so much planning involved that Trump will be long gone and the idea (or at least this current iteration of it) will be scrapped.

the expansion of technology does sound fun
