Really depends on your budget. I have to say the high end watches are worth literally every $. If you're looking for something smart on a budget everyone will rep for Timex.
My daily is an Oyster Perpetual in Black but looking at levelling up to the AP (not the 20k models lmao).

I would suggest you to get a Seiko automatic btw 100-200$, Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Promaster Diver, orient bambino 2, ray 2

or you can buy a Casio duro+Timex Expedition Chronograph+ a Seiko 5 for 160$ in total so that you can wear multiple watches based on your outfit(they each cost around 40-60$)

EDIT-most of the watch i suggested are between 38mm-42mm

Apple watch is a good choice or samsung s3. It really depends what phone you have to utilize those watches to its full extent.

I have a Tommy Hilfiger watch, its silver and black tho, it costs 200€ also.
