Which champions should I get first? Should I buy RP?

Well, depends on your playstyle, what role you wanna play, and if you want a damage comp, AP comp, or a AD comp.
For starting I recommend garen to learn the last hitting and is a Toplaner, do not spend rp now, U dunno nothing about the game, rp are for skins and some things that u don't need now
At least you can try Support-role , try to make many games with the bots

Learn basic champs (ex. Annie,Malzahar,Amumu,etc.) to learn the basics of the game before picking up more complicated champions such as Kalista. RP is just for cosmetics so it's not needed unless you want to buy some skins.
I'd say Garen, Nasus, Ashe or Jhin, Warwick, Nocturne and maybe even annie if you are up for it.
Just try the 450 ones and practice the free to play champs to look fun. Honestly league is just a game that needs alot of practice before you reach a decent skill level.
You'll need at least 20 champs to play ranked at lv30 so go for the cheap 450 ones and try those out first.
Annie as a mage.
Yi as a fighter/ assassin.
Malphite as frontliner.
Blitzcrank as support.
Ezreal as marksman.

The Cheapest Champs are the easiest and therefore the best for newbies.
Garen is best. Spin to win brain dead champion

Don't buy RP yet. Only use BE, which you earn by playing games. You wanna be practicing before splurging $ on champs you won't know how to use.
I'd actually recommend a few:
Top Laners: Nasus, Malphite, and Darius.
Mid: Zoe, Syndra, LUX!!!!
Jg: Udyr, Yi, Lee Sin.
Bot ADC: Ez, Caitlyn and Trist.
Bot Supp: Nami, Leona and Sona.
