Upgrades?

Current Specs:
Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.4GHz (Watercooled)
12GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance
MSI Z97 Gaming 5
MSI GTX 970 Gaming OC Edition (Factory OC)
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX750B
ASUS 144HZ Monitor

I really like the system but want to upgrade without changing MOBO cause I can't upgrade the CPU or RAM anymore without changing it.

Which leads me to the only upgrade left. The GPU.
Currently looking at GTX 1080, is it worth the upgrade from 970 to the 1080 or should I get a higher up one?

Nvidia may be releasing a new card soon (2080), which means older cards (like the 1080) are going to fall in price or everyone is going to try to sell. They're announcing it sometime in the near future.

I would hold on until better news comes out. If you find a good sale I would pull the trigger.

Yeah i heard about the new card coming out. Saw prices on Amazon dropped and I was wondering if I should pull the trigger now or wait it out even longer.
It was 569$ and not its 519$.

So I'm assuming it is a worth it upgrade then?

also what games are you playing right now? do you run into any slowdowns or similar? if not wait it out and see how the new cards that are gonna be announced near the end of august are in terms of performance

Im playing APB Reloaded, League, Sea of Thieves and Hunt Showdown. Not really a lot of slowdowns but on APB I get the standard Stuttering issue but I get around 120FPS. Just would like it to be constant instead of dropping to 90s etc.

No slowdown in any other games. Just being picky and have the option to upgrade, if you know what I mean.

Most likely announcing the cards at the next convention. Don't get them tho, gonna be so useless. It'll be like having a titan to play minecraft
