Venmo Scam

So basically I got scammed from Venmo for $800? around that a while ago, like a month ago.

Is it possible to charge back somehow, i thought it was hopeless so i left it as is. I talked to venmo and they said that it was no go.

But recently i heard that I could talk to my bank and do a chargeback.

Anyone got any tips?

this happened to me i lost 900$, venmo has this terms of service bullshit i would like to know as well. They banned my account

Open the dispute with your bank, state what happened during the transaction, what you were supposed to get and how you got scammed, but look if the transaction was about some illegal shit then don't say it lol, make something up. Make sure to tell them the reason you didn't contact them was because Venmo wasn't able to help so be like you are coming to them for help. Make it sound sad yet sound mad, you will get your money back.

Right, fuck up one is you lied to your bank. You might be able to pull through but if your bank requests info from Venmo there's a good chance they can prove it was you who sent the money via ip or whatever and your bank will take the money back.

For future reference, chargebacks are credit card disputes which are more powerful than visa disputes which is the bank equivalent. It's a difficult one because afaik banks dont give you back your money if you were scammed by an individual vs a company.

The thing is i used a phone 4g network, and its pretty far from my location when i did it

mmm from what i remember, i don't think i lied to my bank, i feel like telling the truth but not all the information would be better than lying to them, since they are the ones trying to help.

Do you think i should do a follow up, or just wait it out

In most of cases unauthorized is instant win for buyer, specially if there are no trackings included (physical product), ip is not a proof at all, specially because you used other one means its instant win. Today when everything is on click, u can open dispute online in most of banks u think that they will call each customer and ask for proof both sides what happened? That would require damn lot team, chargeback means merchant is guilty until proven otherwise.

Due to the 4G thing I think you stand a good chance going with what you already said, just don’t change your story as the more someone changes it the less trust the bank has in you.

You should win just based on the fact its not your usual IP address used.
