I should preface this by saying I’m normally fairly happy. I’m a pretty social person and make other around me happy. However sometimes when I’m alone I just feel totally hopeless and sad. Sometimes when I get home and turn off my car I suddenly feel as though I really don’t matter at all. I’ve had a tough time recently with people who I thought were my friends stop inviting me out, and other personal problems.
Overall I’m happy, but I get hit out of nowhere with these waves of awful feelings to the point where I will just sit in my car shut off thinking about my life. I just don’t know what I can do to make myself feel happier and like I mean something to other people.
Sorry if this is something that dosent matter to others but just needed to tell someone and I don’t want those close to me to look at me differently.
Oooo the good Ole depression waves. Gotta love em amiright? Sadness is necessary for one to enjoy life. A simple way of visualizing this is yin and yang.
Ok enough ching chong talk, I'll tell you what got me out of the worst fucking time of my life in human kind in the galaxy to infinity AND beyond:
I'm currently 20. I was raised in good ole murika and at the age of 14, I was ending my Freshman year of high school at a normal public school. In one of my tech. classes I was shaking my hair with my hands over a keyboard and watched in awe as all these hair follicles started to drop. Didn't think much of it, I wasn't pulling them out. They were just... Dropping. I went home thinking every things all good, played some minecraft and my oldest brother, who happens to be a barber, told me its time for a buzzzzzz.
So hes cutting it low af, and he stops and tells me that I'm starting to go bald. Yeah I almost shit my dick cause when I looked in the mirror I could faintly see a weird glow, my scalp, but I had enough hair to last a year or two before anyone would notice. This lead to an exponential rise in balding because of the STRESS I put on my self to give a fuck about HOW/what ANGLES people saw me at. End of Sophomore year, had been wearing the same beanie for 3 months, GPA that semester was a .7, and hardly anyone talked to me... But when summer came going into Junior year, I did something.
Thats right, I did shrooms! A lot! This allowed me to sculpt my personality to be less give a fuck what you think and more give a fuck what im doing. And then came Adderall, which I highly recommend. Allowed me to focus so f0kin hard I realized having a clean cut head and sexy f0kin beard would be a killer look. Those 2 final years of highschool I never got below a 3.7GPA and I fucked my first girl Junior year. Never had my first kiss until I lost my hair...
TLR - Do adderall and get a beard. @FinalFear I wrote you my life story, now quit your bitching and go find drugs.

Seems like you're not content with yourself. Learn to improve yourself (read self help shit and start lifting), don't seek external validation and learn to be content with yourself. Don't let other people drive the direction of your life and make everyone in your life just a piece of yourself and not the center piece of your life. If you're not going out somewhere, read, lift, learning a new language/skill or go fucking have an adventure and do something that gets your heart pumping.
Everyone is stuck in a mediocre circle of trying to have a better life than most people. You don't need parties or friends to be happy, LEARN TO BE CONTENT WITH YOURSELF AND SEEK VALIDATION WITHIN.
Also, try what @Ahmad said. Though I should warn you that shrooms are nothing to be fucking around with and you should do A LOT of research before even attempting to take them.
Edit:
myself feel happier
You're living life wrong. Life isn't about happiness, it's about fulfillment. Fulfillment comes with doing the shit you need to do but you won't because you're lazy or you don't want to put the effort in. Happiness isn't something you can chase, happiness is a byproduct of fulfillment.
You need to find things to distract your mind or else you will get reminded ev everything you did wrong.
I hit depression when I was 15 because of love life/family problems/etc. Now I'm 20 rn and I can finally say I have overcame depression. Fighting depression took me 5 years of my life to even feel a slight happiness. I know how it feels to feel "useless" or people not inviting you. Honestly these people shouldn't consider friends if they turn you down quick
Please don't take drugs to feel better because sure they make you happy but for how long until you need to take again ? I was depressed but growing up in the ghetto, drugs are EVERYWHERE. It's not something you should mess around especially if you're in your depression phase. If you need someone to talk or listen, I'll be here for you. Just don't attempt to jump off the bridge like I did , it's not worth it.
TLR fake friends have many faces so don't care too much, drugs are bad and if you need help , I'm here for you.
That, from my own experience and from what I've learnt by talking with others, is pretty common. You sometimes feel like you're worthless and your true friends don't give a shit about you, but this is rarely the case.
First of all you have to realize that if you love somebody you gotta let them be free, if your friends were to keep on disturbing you non-stop, that's kinda toxic. You, on the other hand have to realize that they're human too, they feel like shit just like you do from time to time, and when they do (or when they're just busy in general) the last thing that comes to their mind (just like the last thing that comes to yours when you're in that situation) is calling you to say hey. Friends can be douches sometimes, sometimes they really are not what we thought they were, but they're human just like all of us, don't live a life full of anger or disappointment, try to make the most out of every experience you have, and if you hang out with your friends try to tell them that you care about them in a way that they'll understand, be nice and have fun, that's it. You'll soon start to feel better, and realize that if you channel positive energy around you, everything will start to look less shitty.
So in other words:
1. Share love with everyone, especially your friends and family. Call your mom and tell her that you miss her and want to take her out on a fancy dinner (bring daddy too, why not?), call a friend and ask him/her to get out for a beer sometime, and if they reschedule or aren't available, just try to understand that they're living a life full of ups and downs just like you, everyone tries their best.
2. Deal with your current situation, accept it. You may not like it, you may HATE it, but you HAVE to accept it. If you do then you'll just move on and you'll find out that things sometimes turn out for the best. Don't hold on to memories of "better" times or try to think that your situation is "alright" when it's shit, but as surely as the sun will rise again tomorrow, it will eventually change.
3. Work on things you like. Exercise, build discipline, find a hobby, be the best version of you you can be.
4. Give to others as much as possible and help people in need. Try charity or community service it's a real bless.
All in all remember that it's okay to be sad and feel grumpy from time to time, it's part of life, it's what makes us human, embrace it and be a better man everytime life throws you down.

//turn hair black
E M O
i feel this post man...
my experience
Also happened to me but luckily it's temporary, so it'll pass sooner or later. hold on!
Hopeless and sad isn't depression.
You got hit by the real niqqa hours.
everyone gets slammed with depression, take it one day at a time and get through it
nothing more to it
@FinalFear Does that happen a day after drinking/taking something and not clearly remembering what happened last night?Friends not talking to you? That is called a moral hangover... But if you experience this over a longer period of time, being sober etc... Do you have trouble sleeping, do you have trouble communicating with others?does your intimate life suffer, having trouble even talking to your family? Do you have the feeling, that almost nothing in this life gives you joy? Did you ever think, it would not matter if you were on this world or not? Did you think, that the reason your friends distanced themselves from you, is the change in your behaviour , not them?
Talking to random people will help, but not much. You can convince yourself you are strong! you know "mind over matter", but it is futile, you can not win against your mind, it knows all your weaknesses... Be strong enough, to go to your doctor/a specialist and tell him your problems, and get some pills that will help you. Opinions differ, but if you ask me depression is 70% chemical imbalance, the other 30% is you being your old happy social person again!
And those pills might give the opposite effect in the first few weeks of taking them, so you might want to talk to your close ones, so that they can keep you on your path...
Depression is normal. Everyone gets it and it can indeed happen out of nowhere.
Like Ahmad said, it is part of the balance in your life.
If you don't want to feel sad, stop thinking about the sad things, and enjoy happier times. Watch comedy videos. Go to sleep, or exercise.
There are so many actions that can be done to make yourself feel better and many studies that can prove it effective.
However, sometimes if you want to reflect, you can always use the sad times to learn on how you can make your mental health at a better state.
It is an opportunity to know more about yourself, what you like, what you want, and what you don't like/want.
I mean everyone in this world is running their own marathon in life. Wherever their finish line may be, it's a long, and tiring run. The main point is to never give up.
Enjoy the gift of life you were given and to make every moment count, since time won't be waiting for you.
