Cloud Gaming?

Hello. Been awhile.

So Cloud Gaming is becoming more mainstream in the last year or so, and I wanted opinions from people who have purchased these services in order to see what service would be worth my money.

I honestly am just finding this out, and while I have tried GeForce Now, the Cloud Streaming Service seems a bit limited in how I can interact with it.

If you have no input on this subject at all, and wanna boost your post ego, What's your favorite game so far in 2019?

i have no input and i just wanted to say hi so i guess the games ive been playing the most so far are dauntless and warframe

i think the main issue with cloud gaming is still latency, especially crucial in multiplayer games

in the beginning with geforcenow it was horribly slow and felt so laggy
now they have improved but i still think that it needs to be improved a bit

im looking forward to see what google + amd will deliver with stadia

I've used GeForce Now for a week and tried Overwatch and R6S to see how latency is. Granted, I have 200mb up and down, but the latency was never more than a really rare half second stutter. The program dulls graphics at times, I assume to alleviate the stutter. Honestly, Besides that hiccup it does, which has only been twice to me, GeForce streams fairly well with a constant 60fps.

What I don't like, for starters, is the forced Fullscreen option. I like my games sitting at 1280x720 windowed, so I can have youtube or something playing alongside it, so tabbing in and out to check MPGH or do things on the side is annoying. Another issue is with their VM Desktop. It literally forces you to play only the game chosen, which makes games with mods very annoying.

Looking for a Cloud Streaming service with a fully-open VM Desktop, with a windowed option that supports Metro Exodus. You'd think it would be easier but welp.

yeah it def improved

i guess it really depends on ping and internet speed but i always felt like there still is too much input lag for my liking
with 100/30 my internet also isnt too bad and should def handle that aspect

its def come a long way, but for someone like me with high expectations its still not perfect for fast paced games, but if youre travelling and wanna game a bit its perfect

Have you touched the new Beta for it yet? I'd say with your internet, you could run it no problem with competitive games. Got a friend in Montana that has a 15mb down and 5mb up, he swears by it and gets great frames.

I think its initial release was a flop, but since they took it out of the old beta and reworked it, they made massive changes.

There are alternatives like Vortex or PaperSpace, but Vortex seems pricey for what it offers, and PaperSpace charges per hour, which would be fine if 50% of their computers they offer weren't weaker than mine, on top of charging ridiculous prices for them. LiquidSky is another I get told about, but its in closed beta I think, and no one is selling the Beta Keys afaik.

I wanna hunt mutants comfortably, damn it.

I agree with the idea that Cloud Gaming, where it is now, is catered more to the Lower end of the gaming community spectrum. That said, there are the rare cases, like me, that have a decently powerful desktop that just is a foot behind the requirements newer games need to run. It's a nice level of convenience, to know I could just use Cloud Gaming and play what I want, while saving to fix whatever RAM, CPU, or GPU issue in the meantime. Cloud Gaming, in the future, looks to be the next step we could be heading. Only drawback is for the people with bad connections.

R6S is fun. I could never get my headphones right to hear footsteps so a lot of my time with R6S was a guessing game. Very fun though.

Mmm, but in terms of bad connections - the money spent investing in a better internet company compared to investing in a better setup is definitely still a money saver. The withdrawal would be if your location doesn't offer any good local companies.

Also if you'd like, I can try to help you with your game sounds. I remember going through the whole process about a week in after playing the game and it's definitely improved my satisfaction while playing. Just send me a PM and I can look it over

Vortex looks alright enough, but game support looks slim and if they have a section for game support, then more than likely they have stopped allowing users to access the VM Desktop to install what they wanted. Which is a no go for me.

I don't remember entirely what prices were at with PaperSpace, but I think a 4gb RAM system was like 20 a month. Yeah, fuck that man.

paperspace seems interesting but the prices start at 50cent per minute, which is reasonable if youre very casual and just rarely game

if you happen to game more buying your own laptops seems more economical to me

I'll see what I can do about finding a beta code for you, I think you'll be shocked at how far it's come.

Always upgrade and buy your own rig. I see Cloud Gaming as a temporary alternative until you upgrade your physical rig. Definitely don't think of this as a replacement for physical desktops.

yeah its perfect for when youre travelling a lot and dont want to travel with your big gaming laptop

or for people with a bad PC

i guess there still needs to be a big drop in price for it to become a serious alternative for most people
